For a resolution to your technical problem, please take the following steps:

Step 1 - Driver Update

Many technical problems involving our Sentinel keys can be resolved simply by installing the latest system drivers. Please download and install the latest driver below.
Sentinel Protection Installer v7.6.6 - ( Download Driver) For Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Server 2003/2008/Vista & Windows 7 & 8 (32 and 64 bits)

This is the latest version of the Sentinel Driver. This replaces both the Sentinel System Driver and the 'Sentinel Combo Installer'. This will install both the Driver and the Sentinel SuperPro/Ultrapro Server onto your system.

This will work for the following keys: Sentinel UltraPro, Sentinel SuperPro, Sentinel SHK and SentinelPro

Sentinel Protection Installer v7.1.0 - (Download driver)
For Linux RedHat 9 (2.4.20)/RedHat Enterprise 3.0 (2.4.21)/Linux kernel 2.6.5

This installer will Install Sentinel UNIX Driver 7.1 and/or Sentinel Protection Server 7.1 on your system. Previous installed copies of these components will be upgraded. This will work for Sentinel UltraPro and Sentinel SuperPro keys.

Sentinel UNIX Driver 7.1 provides also generic support for kernel version 2.6.5 of RedHat Linux distributions.

Kernel version 2.6.5 is the latest kernel that supports .o binary installations. Hence only version 2.6.5 is supported for customized 2.6.x kernels. However, the Sentinel UNIX Driver has also been tested on kernel versions 2.6.3.

The Sentinel UNIX Driver (parallel) binary-mdrbdr.o-is modified to support installation on kernel version 2.6.5. It is installed at: /opt/sentinel/sud/parallel/Fedora/kernel-2.6.5.Please note that the RPM version must be 4.2.1 (or higher).
For Fedora, the .ko binary will be installed. For the remaining distributions, the .o binary will be installed.

UNICOM III probe
UNICOM III probes are a family of portable optical (infrared) communications interfaces. This page contains both the USB port drivers for the UNICOM III probe and the installation guide. Login
The UNICOM III drivers are now Microsoft Windows certified.
  • For Windows 7 users, you do not need to download the ZIP file. The drivers are available directly from the Microsoft Windows Update service.
  • For other version of Windows, you will need to download the ZIP file and install the drivers


To install the drivers:

  1. Download the ZIP file to your computer.
  2. Connect the UNICOM III probe to a USB port on your computer.
    Windows will automatically detect the hardware and start the New Hardware Wizard.
  3. Follow the instructions in the New Hardware Wizard to complete the installation.
PG42-1010A
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changes the Daylight Saving Time (DST) schedule in 2007. In 2007, DST will start on the second Sunday of March and end on the first Sunday of November.
The calendar of all current and historical Elster meters and registers can be modified to accommodate the new DST schedule without affecting billing data. PG42-1010A, Programming Elster Meters for the new DST Rules, provides information on Elster's recommended approach for modifying meter and register calendars to support the new 2007 DST dates.

    • When exporting MV90-HHF format files for A3 ALPHA meters, the in-progress (and therefore incomplete) profile data interval will now be omitted.
    • On the REXUniversal Billing Views, enable the interpretation of negative values for -Net summation quantities.
